MSNBC Social Refresh

 MSNBC was looking to refresh its social presence with a unifying look and feel. Our team developed templates, guidelines and content to help modernize and humanize their Instagram. The templates are broken out by color and style to differentiate the news. After creating these assets, our team taught MSNBC’s digital team how to apply each template through Adobe software. Following our Instagram template launch, MSNBC saw an increase in +100K followers within the first month. Since we began the program in February 2019, MSNBC has gained +350K followers.

MSNBC News Archives

As part of the Boomshot team assigned to this project, I worked specificially on the template we built called MSNBC News Archives #OnthisDay. The MSNBC News Archives are extensive, so we wanted to use the vast amount of footage available to remember important dates in history. My role was to choose the important dates in history to be honored, pull footage and edit individual videos cut for MSNBC’s Instagram Feed and Story. See below for some additional examples.

For the Talent Quotes Program Boomshot worked with the MSNBC team to gather significant quotes from MSNBC’s top talent about an issue that they felt was most pressing in 2019. We wanted the quotes to be bold, yet simple enough to read on MSNBC’s Instagram feed, without having to click into the post itself. As a junior designer for this template, I chose the photos and designed the vignette. My team and I believe the purple vignette and red text contrast the black and white photos, and successfully break up news-heavy feed with impact.
